I’m so disappointed with my wool carpet cleaning. My beautiful rug came backing home stretched and with a massive yellow stain on it. I returned it to have the stain re-cleaned only to be returned with minimal change - so disheartening

I took an area rug into be cleaned. It hadn’t been cleaned since we purchased it, about seven years ago. The rug looked clean, but I figured it was time for a refresh. When I got it home and unwrapped it I realized how dirty it was before leaving it with Austin Smith. The rug came back spotless, the pile was no longer flat, and it smelled fresh. On top it, the people are really nice. Oh. Almost forgot. The final bill was a pleasant surprise. I’m very happy and highly recommend this company.

Tough rating to give. Hired Austin Smith Carpeting Cleaning 10 months ago, Dec 2020. Just moved into a house that needed some work done to the carpets. They re-stretched the carpet, cleaned the carpet and furniture for 932.25. It was expensive and we assumed the cost was for all the work re-stretching. The quality of the work was well done.

Fast forward 10 months later. We have them back to clean the carpets and the same furniture. 5 days ago we had new floors installed. We have had no trades into our home between the time the floors were installed and carpets cleaned. I ask the guys to be careful with the floors. They put down blankets to protect. When they finish they fold up the blankets. The floor is scratched under the area they have been working in. They deny doing it. Seriously?!? No one has been in our house but them and us. Our floors are BRAND new. Tough about our luck.

I get the bill. It's $988.75. Are you kidding me? $55 more than 10 months earlier for less work than they did last December when we had the carpets re-stretched, cleaned and the exact same furniture cleaned.

The conundrum... they do good work. But they are expensive and pricing is inconsistent with limited care for our home.

I was out of the country, when my dog became extremely sick (end of life), and she soiled the carpet in our front hallway.

Although I appreciate Austin Smith Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for making an emergency visit for my Dad, there were terrible stains left over after they were done, blaming my Dad for rubbing the stains in while he tried to clean it up himself. While I agree that rubbing a stain will make the it worse/harder to clean, they boasted to my Dad about their $60,000 cleaning equipment. I have a personal steam cleaner at home, but my Dad has a bad back and couldn’t lift/use it himself, so he called Austin Smith cleaners.

The residual stains were horrible…for almost $300 (for not even an entire room/hallway), we were shocked that they couldn’t get more out.

I ended up using my personal steam cleaner when I got home, thinking I would try and reduce the staining, and lo-and-behold, the stains were 100% gone! I wish I would have taken before/after pictures, but I honestly didn’t expect it to come out after a “professional” company said that was the best they could do. My $600 steam cleaner did a better job than their $60,000 equipment! A $283 charge, only to have to redo it myself is ridiculous!

Around the beginning of June we scheduled furniture cleaning for the 3rd week in June with Austin Smith in Oshawa. The representative from Austin Smith arrived a 1/2 hour late for the appointment. We notice he did not attend with booties to place over his shoe so we asked him to remove his shoes but he refused. Instead he indicated he had to go to his truck to get a tarp to protect the hard wood floor while he cleaned 3 chairs, 3 ottomans and 1 large couch. He later returned indicating he had to go to the store to buy a tarp. Hearing this we called the office to voice our concern the representative was ill prepared for the work. The office indicated we should speak to the owner (the technician that left our house). The owner later called back to indicate he could not get a tarp and he had to reschedule the appointment.

We used Austin Smith many times over the years but this management (who also goes by Denver Carpet) left us still in need of a cleaner. Not a reliable company. They earn their poor review.

They ruined my rug. When I unrolled it at home, there were a bunch of small holes. Would not use them again.
