Our experience was great. John came to our house and took care of everything from providing and hooking up a new modem, and 2 Rokus to getting our new services hooked up. He made sure that everything was setup and customized the home screen for us. He is also dropping off our cable devices and disconnecting our cable tv and phone service. We were looking to downgrade from cable as we just don't watch that much TV but still wanted to be able to get PBS and local news. John was very responsive and insightful about how to get this accomplished. The new antenna isn't distracting or tasteful on the back of our house/roof.

John installed an antenna in our attic so we could get the best TV reception (which we did!). Like many others of a certain age, we had transitioned from analog to cable to satellite, and then got stuck in a monthly satellite plan that cost a ton and had a zillion-channel package dominated by channels we never watched (and had to endlessly augment through multiple streaming and on-demand add-ons). We knew it was time to cut the cord, but although we are reasonably digital savvy, we were quickly overwhelmed trying to sort through info and options for services, equipment, configuration.

He patiently worked with us to explain options, made expert recommendations for equipment and streaming services customized to our preferences, and walked us through every step of the new viewing landscape. He recommended an overall plan that seemed elegantly simple and perfect, provided a detailed no-surprises cost breakdown, and within another week came to install the whole works.

At every turn, John was exceptionally professional, thorough, courteous, good natured—and did I mention patient?—explaining the steps in plain English, answering our many questions, offering guidance on the most user-friendly options plus expert tips for streaming services (we went with Hulu With Live TV as an ideal core service for our needs), and making sure that we were comfortable with the new setup. The upfront costs for installation were very reasonable (and will be offset quickly by the hefty savings from our ditched satellite service). Installation included several hours of work by John covering everything from removal of our bulky old rooftop satellite dish to full system configuration, plus covered all equipment costs including an HDTV outdoor antenna to get free local channels and two awesome new Roku TCL smart TVs. We couldn’t be happier. The Rokus look great and work beautifully, including picture quality that is the best we’ve ever had (including for the locals and PBS via the antenna).

We never could have transitioned so seamlessly to this happy new TV world without John’s amazing combination of superb technical expertise, attention to detail, and teaching skills. Thanks, John and Cable Alternatives! We were wowed from start to finish. We love everything about our cordcutting experience, and we are thrilled to have every channel and capability we want at less than a third the cost of our bloated satellite setup. Highly, highly recommended for all who want to cut the cord and anyone who just wants smart advice and stellar service to upgrade existing tech. A+!
